Baptism

These are the requirements for the baptism of a child:

Child:

  • Child’s Birth Certificate from the State.

  • From 0 to 6 years of age.

Parent(s):

  • Should be registered members of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish. Depending on the case, the Pastor may make exceptions to this requirement. Click here to download the Parish Registration Form.

  • Attend one baptismal instruction, which is held on the first and third Sunday of each month at 2:00 p.m. in the Church. Instruction classes may be taken at another church as long as proper verification of attendance is provided.

Godparent(s):

  • Only one male or one female godparent or one of each sex is to be chosen.

  • 16-year-old or older.

  • Must be a fully initiated Catholic (Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation).

  • Married godparents should have received the sacrament of marriage in the Catholic Church.

  • Attend one baptismal instruction, which is held on the first and third Sunday of each month at 2:00 p.m. in the Church. Instruction classes may be taken at another church as long as proper verification of attendance is provided.

Administration:

Celebration:

  • Baptisms of children are celebrated during the Masses of the 4th Sunday of each month (In English: 9:30 AM; and in Spanish: 12:00 PM); outside of Mass Baptisms are celebrated on the 2nd and the 4th Saturday of each month at 10:00 AM. There are no Baptisms during Advent, Lent and special liturgical celebrations. 

  • The child must be dressed in a white garment.

  • Religious articles (candle, medal, etc.) may be worn and blessed at time of baptism and are to be provided by the parents.

  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the celebration of the Sacrament.
